Our lovingly cherished home is surrounded by peace and quiet and a very close community. The Town of Empress is located near the forks where the Red Deer River and the South Saskatchewan meet. The river hills are just beautiful. Our home was completely gutted down to the studs and remodeled 10 years ago. (photos of the remodel process are available upon request.) The entire town is far above the flood zone. Even last year the flooding in Alberta had very little impact on the rivers near Empress.

There is little store in town with essential groceries such as milk, eggs, etc. They also sell gas and diesel. Acadia Valley, a town 20min away, has a small grocery store with good selection. The town of Oyen, 40min away, has two larger grocery stores. However, most Empress residents find themselves going into Medicine Hat for groceries as they often have other errands/appointments. You learn to keep your pantry and freezer stocked. Medicine Hat is an hour and 20 mins from Empress and has Walmart, Superstore, Safeway, Sobeys, Costco, and other grocery stores plus a mall.
