Campo Sant'Anzolo is the perfect place for those seeking the right balance between tranquillity, centrality and belvedere. It is in an excellent position for visiting the city away from the flow of tourists. In a calle with an opening onto a canal we find the entrance door to our flat. We walk up the stairs, which are historic and in excellent condition. As with many Venetian palazzi, the building does not allow the installation of a lift or a elevator, having been built in ancient times. We reach the fourth and last floor: the ambience conveys a peace rich in Venetian details, such as the historic exposed beams, enhanced by the natural light flooding the flat. Immediately on the right a first small room, discreet in size but perfect for every guest. We return to the entrance and walk down the small corridor. A second door on the right leads us to the bathroom with washing machine. Just past the entrance corridor we find the living-dining room with armchairs and a sofa, an excellent starting point for interesting conversations. The closer you get to the windows, the more the flat reveals a permanent guest: St Mark's bell tower, right in the centre of the window. To the right of the dining table perfect for six, a compartment leads us to the kitchen complete with appliances and exposed beams. From the living room, we take the only door to the left and are in the master bedroom with fitted wardrobes, custom-made furniture and en suite bathroom. The murmur of gondoliers' songs comes softly, there is a French window open. We return to the guest room and walk up the wooden steps... the roof-terrace gives us such an open view of St Mark's Basilica that we believe we can touch its bell tower with one finger.
San Marco is the heart of the city of Venice, the best known and most prestigious sestiere, from every point you are within walking distance of both Piazza San Marco and the Teatro della Fenice. This area is also very well served by all the Vaporetto lines, and the gondola ferry, you can also reach any corner of Venice in less than ten minutes.
