The Parish of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, formed by two Lombas, Loução and Alcaide, is heir to a vast cultural and natural heritage, dispersed by five centuries of human presence.
The Parish was constituted in 1957, the desire of the population of the 2 lombas to become independent from the Parish of Povoação.
The new parish was renamed Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, and was then the patron saint of the Church of Loução.
Nossa Senhora dos Remédios is a Portuguese parish in the municipality of Povoação, São Miguel Island, Azores, with an area of 12.66 km² and 1,112 inhabitants (2011).
