The apartment consists of a 100m2 hall to be used as living room and dining room which includes a 17th Century fireplace. On the same floor there are two bedrooms each consisting of double bed and bathroom with shower. As it is built on the foundations of a tower, the walls of the hall are over 1 meter thick and include a few arrow slits. The hall leads onto a very large terrace where a beautiful panorama of the country can be enjoyed, along with meals on the terrace during the summer.
There are stairs from the bedroom leading onto the lower floor which consists of storage space with sink and remote-controlled boiler tank, a pleasant living room with sofas and access onto the 200m2 private garden. The apartment can be accessed through a closed courtyard with gate. There is car space in the shared courtyard.
The courtyard is shared by the 5 owners of the surrounding properties, one of which is the local doctor. It is an attractive property and full of character. The apartment comes fully furnished, thus habitable straight away. The apartment's heating is powered by a liquid gas tank and is made with a Swedish system where the heating unit is located at the foot of the walls and is present all around the house.
Location
The hamlet, Castello di Serravalle, is located on the hills between Bologna and Modena, approximately 35km from Bologna and 300 meters above sea-level. The apartment is built on the foundations of a Roman tower which was demolished in medieval times to make way for stables and hay-barns for the peasants working for the Nobles of the castle. The castle, which still exists today, was a gift from the Sforza family to a traveling knight, Boccadiferro, as a thank you for his services around 1,000 AD.
