It takes its name from the local word for cork, "suvero" ("sughero" in Italian) as forests of cork oak are characteristic of the area as well as olive groves and vineyards.
Close by is the Provincial Park of Montioni, where paths and bridleways snake amongst natural resources and archaeological remains, making it a paradise for trekking and horse-riding. There are also very good golf courses close by.
