Location

Carrara is internationally famous for the marble quarries dating back to Roman times and its almost flawless white stone, prized for centuries by famous sculptors from Michelangelo to Henry Moore (the stone for Michealangelo's David came from Carrara). Local marble has been used in the town's Duomo in the Piazza del Duomo and the cathedral square also contains Michelangelo's house used when he visited Carrara to select blocks of marble for his sculptures. Within 40 minutes' drive the Apuane Alpi have spectacular views over the coast and quarries.
The apartment is set at the foot of Monteverde, ten minutes from the beach (Marina di Carrara, ten minutes from Carrara town and only 75 minutes from the ski slopes. A bread shop, butcher, grocer, hardware store and 2 bars are within a five minute stroll of the apartment as is the local bus service. Both Carrara and Marina di Carrara offer a variety of restaurants as well as beach clubs and sporting facilities.

Built four years ago, it is in a Palazzo of 9 apartments. The apartment is one of three on the ground floor of the palazzo and has a 2 metre wall which completely surrounds the garden making it totally private and escape proof for children and dogs. There is an electric gate for ease of access for private parking within the apartment grounds.



The apartment is detached on three sides and has two floors. The garden which has been laid with loving care has olive, orange, lemon and grapefruit trees, grapevines and shrubs. An automatic watering system is installed and an artificial lawn for ease of maintenance. There is a ceramic tile footpath all around the building with a patio to the front and a timber framed loggia entwined with wisteria and bougainvillea providing shade on hot sunny days. All doors/windows on the ground floor have double glazing plus electric roller shutters.



The apartment has solid oak internal doors, Botticino marble tiles on all floors and fully tiled bathrooms. All external doors/windows are fitted with tilt and turn mechanism. There is full central heating system throughout the apartment.



On the ground floor: Kitchen, Dining Room (with staircase leading to lower floor), Bathroom, Inner Hallway and two Double Bedrooms.



The entrance door from the communal palazzo stairway leads into the Dining Room with a 3 metre Brazilian granite dining table, and double doors leading onto the patio and an archway into the Kitchen. The Master Bedroom has fitted floor to ceiling wardrobes with sliding mirrored doors, TV point, air-conditioning unit, and fly screen fitted to the large double doors leading out to the rear garden area.



The Second Bedroom has an air-conditioning unit and small mirrored wardrobe. A window fitted with a fly screen overlooks the side garden area.



The staircase leads from the Dining Room down to the large Sitting Room with ceiling window. There is a corner log fireplace edged with marble which has a log store beneath. TV, WI-FI and telephone points.



Leading from the Sitting Room is a Double Bedroom and Bathroom. The Bathroom is tiled from floor to ceiling in Botticino marble tiles and is fitted as a wet room, including a shower, bath, WC, bidet and hand-basin with mirror and light over. Ventilation is from a high level window.



The Bedroom has a ceiling window, and door leading into the Storage Area. There are fitted wardrobes along one wall with floor to ceiling mirrored doors.
There is an exterior door leading out from the Sitting Room out to the communal staircase to the front entrance of building, creating the possibility of the lower level being converted into a self-contained flat.



On the lower level there is also Cantina storage.



The apartment is situated less than 10 minutes from the A12 motorway giving easy access to Pisa, Florence, Genoa and Parma.
