Praia da Luz is a beach located 7 km from Lagos (Algarve, Portugal) in the village of Luz. Being a fishing village, it now has several holiday tourist complexes. [1]

It is a holiday area that receives tourists of different nationalities every year (mainly Portuguese, Spanish, English, French and German). The beach itself is divided into two parts, one with fine white sand, characteristic of the Algarve region and the other with rocks. The water is clean and transparent. The Church of Luz de Lagos, located in the village of Luz, of medieval origin, was remodeled in 1521. During the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries it suffered several lootings, which made it necessary to build protective walls around it. It was severely damaged during the Tsunami of 1755. Later, in 1874, its restoration was financed through contributions from residents of the region. In the twentieth century, a violent storm and earthquake of 1969 caused further damage to the church, and it was necessary to renovate it again.

Due to the existence of the beach, the locality is visited by numerous tourists, Portuguese and foreigners, the latter being mainly of British origin.
