Loivo reminds us from the outset of a distinguished Poet is from Cerveirense, who died on September 26, 1968, and who left us a legacy of several works. This is Rosa Varela who greatly admired and wrote the "Alminhas do Pedroso", now fortunately replaced in its place and duly preserved.

It is said that it was on that date that Gaspar Mendes waited for the landing of the invading forces, falling on them by surprise, however, eventually being captured and savagely mutilated
